6 Ways Men Can Care for Their Feet

It’s Men’s Health Month, so we’re putting the focus on men in June because there’s no better time to remind them, of the importance of taking better care of their feet.

Today Dr. Hubert Lee at CarePlus Foot & Ankle Specialists in Bellevue, WA is sharing six great ways to accomplish this:

  1. Indulge in a pedicure. As a result of the pandemic, new mask-wearing and sanitation protocols have been put in place to make it safer than ever to get a pedicure. A pedicurist not only washes away deep-down dirt from your toes, but they soften thick calluses, moisturize your skin, cut your toenails to smooth perfection, and just generally refresh your feet.

  2. Control your sweat. Air out your shoes by allowing them to dry out in between the times you wear them. Banish sweat from your skin by wearing socks with moisture-wicking properties and change them often. If sweaty feet and foot odor are a problem for you, it’s time to visit your podiatrist.

  3. Keep your A1C under control. If you are diabetic, control keep your blood sugar levels by eating healthy and getting plenty of exercise. When diabetes is not controlled it can lead to dangerous foot conditions.
  4. Lose the extra weight. You might be surprised to discover that many foot problems can be caused by the stress put on them by being overweight and obese. Losing weight can save you from the pain of flat feet, arch issues, arthritis, tendonitis, and plantar fasciitis.

  5. Quit smoking. Nicotine and other chemicals found in cigarettes can narrow blood vessels, dry out the skin of your feet, and damage nerves.
  6. Examine your feet regularly. Show your feet respect by examining them regularly for signs of problems such as skin cancer, tingling feelings, changes in size or shape, constant pain, and unexplained swelling.

These are all reasons to make an appointment with Dr. Hubert Lee at CarePlus Foot & Ankle Specialists in Bellevue, WA. Schedule a consultation with him today either online or by calling us at 425-455-0936
